In the light of the
announcement which communicated on March 22nd 2002 in
order to improve the quality of information disclosure of audited annual
reports and the implementation of corporate governance, the Ministry of
State Owned Enterprises, the Directorate General Taxes, the Capital
Market Supervisory Agency, the Jakarta Stock Exchange, the Indonesian
Accountant Association and the National Committe for Corporate
Governance were organizing the activities of Annual Report Award
dedicated for companies which have good information disclosure.
After a comprehensive
evaluation was completed for the contest of 83 audited annual reports
which consist of public and non-public companies, as well as State
Owned Enterprises and Non State Owned Enterprises which were
participating in the Annual Report Award 2001 program, today, Friday, 9
August 2002, the Jury Committe composed of. Mr. Mari'e Muhammad
(Chairman), Mr. Arie Soelendro (Chairman of BPKP as Vice Chairman), Mr.
Ananta Wiyogo (PEFINDO as Secretary), Prof.DR. Bambang Sudibyo
(University of Gadjah Mada) Prof. DR. Wahjudi Prakarsa (Univesrsity of
Indonesia), DR. Gunadi (Directorate General of Taxes), Mr. Freddy R.
Saragih (Capital Market Supervisory Agency), Mr. Zulfikri Aboebakar
(Indonesian Accountant Association), Mr. Goei Siauw Hong
(Practitioner/Capital Market Analyst) and Mr. Sardjono (Chairman of
Indonesian Pension Fund Association), announcing the top 3 scored
companies as follow :

The Committe was
provided with detailed assessments criteria for each audited Annual
Report 2001 which consist of :

All information
and presentations about the profile of those companies which are not
limited for such as the brief descriptions of the companies, brief
descriptions about their businesses and products and their core
businesses, lists of subsidiaries and affiliation parties, the
compositions of their commissioners and directors, including
their independent commissioners, audit committees shareholders
compositions, organization structures, number of employees and their
human resources development programmes; |

All information
and presentations about their reports in connection with their
implementation of good corporate governance principles which are not
limited for such as the descriptions of mission and vision of their
companies in the implementation of good corporate governance, the
duties of their Board of Directors, Board of Commissioners, Audit
Committees and Remuneration Committees, activities in connection
with their supports for social and environment equilibrium,
transaction with affiliated parties and their explanations with
regard to business ethics implementation;

All information
and presentations about analysis and management discussions of
their companies implementation, which are noy limited for such as
their operational and financial performances,their devidend policies
and payments, business prospects and strategies and their
implementation with regard to business policies;

|
All information
and financial report presentations with regard to the current
general accepted accounting principles and related capital market
regulations; |
|
|
All information
and other relevant report presentations and can be presented fairly
according to the needs of their stakeholders such as their
shareholders, suppliers, employees and others.

The evaluation was
conducted by evaluating the audited annual reports 2001 under those
evaluation criteria, by emphasizing on the implementation of good
corporate governance principles. Once the Jury Committee has selected
the potential top rated companies, the management of those potential top
rated companies were interviewed by the Committee on August 5th
and 6th 2002. The Jury Committee did not perform any audit
or investigative audit, or any related procedures in this evaluation
process.
To all participants, the organizer and other parties who are helping
to organize this activity, we would like to express our highest
appreciation especially to the enclosed 83 companies for their
participation in this Annual Report Award 2001. Although some of the
companies are not being rated as the top 3 companies, we consider that
their participation in this Annual Report Award 2001 as an expression of
willingness of the business community to maximize its contribution to
their stakeholders.
In closing, the organizer hopes that this Annual Report Award can be
continued over the next coming years. With all the successes that we
have in organizing this Annual Report Award 2001, we hope that it can be
a good motivator for the Indonesian business community players to move
forward to improve especially the quality of the contents of their
audited annual reports and their information disclosure in general, as
well as their implementation of good corporate governance. We hope that
this Annual Report Award can make positive contribution to help to
recover investor confidence and accelerate our national economic
recovery.
