As part of its public educational efforts, Bapepam conducted 15 capital market programs at various institutions and colleges in 1999.

Among the institutions participating in these programs were the police department, and the customs service and officials from the Ministry of Finance. Colleges participating in the capital market programs were Tidar University, Magelang; Widya Wiwaha Accounting College, Yogyakarta; Indonesian Islamic University, Yogyakarta; Warwadema University, Bali; University of Jambi; Sriwijaya University, Palembang; Samratulangi University, Manado; University of Jember; Bung Hatta University, Padang; and University of Balikpapan.

On the occasion of the 1999 capital market anniversary, Bapepam and market participants conducted a seminar on August 24, 1999 with the theme: Economic Recovery Through A Revitalized Capital Market. The seminar was attended by about 600 participants, including investors, fund managers, businessmen, and special guests. In addition, there was a special training program on financial journalism.

Bapepam made improvement in its website, (http://www.bapepam.go.id), publishing the full text of the capital market law and implementing regulations, as well as statistics, publications, and information regarding market supervision. Bapepam also established an e-mail address (info@bapepam.go.id) to handle public queries.
