  1999 Annual Report : Y2K Readiness

To anticipate Y2K problem in the capital market, Bapepam, the SROs, and market professional associations established the Capital Market Y2K Committee and the Millenium Event Management.

With the assistance from MITI, Japan, the committee conducted a series of analyses and evaluations of SROs, securities companies, securities administration agencies, custodian banks, trust agents, with respect to computer readiness for the new millenium. Since computer systems in capital market institutions in Indonesia were not fully integrated, risks of Y2K problems were reduced.

The Y2K Committee conducted a Street Wide Test, released Y2K guidelines, and established business continuity plans for securities companies, securities administration agencies, and issuers, and conducted workshops on business continuity plans.

The committee also actively publicized capital market readiness with respect to potential Y2K problems through meetings and seminars. The committee attended the 2000 Global Conference in November 1999 and the APEC Workshop on Y2K in Seoul, Korea. The committee also held seminars on the Indonesian Capital Market Transition to The New Millenium to inform investors on capital market readiness for the new millenium.
