1999 Annual Report: Human Resources & Infrastructure

In accordance with the reorganization in 1997, in 1998 Bapepam has recruited 25 new employees with undergraduate and graduate degree, particularly in Economics and Law.

Bapepam also extensively improved the career and quality of its staff with the objective of creating strong capital market professionals among others by sending a number of staff members to take master programs in the US. Currently the number of staff holding master’s degree is 36 or 8.1 % of the total 447 staff. This percentage rose 1.6% compared to that in 1997.

In the area of equipment and infrastructure, Bapepam is one of the government institutions which has utilized information technology by establishing a computer network in Bapepam’s offices. It is planned that the network will be accessible to other institutions related to the capital market.

The use of this technology is expected to be a starting point for satisfactory public oriented-service, with the target of fast, wide access information dissemination. The network is supported by equipment with the latest computer technology.
