  1998 Annual Report: Public Program


Despite the economic crisis, Bapepam intensified its public programs. In 1998, Bapepam’s senior officials conducted seminar /course on the capital market to various groups, such as high school students, university students, and government officials. Among others were the participants of Police Department Detective Training on the Economy and participants of high level manager Courses of PT Telkom.

In the preparation for scripless trading, Bapepam conducted an open forum with capital market participants to discuss the preparation measures and impacts. Bapepam also held computer training on the implementation of the capital market reporting system for all capital market participants.

The Capital Market Reference Center (CMRC) which was established in 1997 continued its service in providing capital market related information including reference materials.

Bapepam also held many press conferences about Love Rupiah Campaign and 1998 Investment Funds, revocation of Securities Companies’ Business Lincences, restriction of business activities of Capital Market Supporting Professionals, the capital market reporting system, false securities certification, exchange surveillance, explanation of 16 new rules on capital market, and the Capital Market’s 21st Anniversary.
