Dear
Readers,
As information to domestic and
foreign investors, Bapepam routinely releases its
annual report.
In the 1999 annual report, we describe important
developments in Bapepam and in the Indonesian
capital market. In 1999, the condition of the
Indonesian capital market generally showed a
recovery after a several years of severe economic
crisis.
In
developing the capital market, Bapepam continues
to meet its regulatory and supervisory
obligations with the vision of making the
Indonesian capital market a positive factor for a
solid and competitive national economy.
To achieve this vision, the development will be
on increasing commitment to develop the capital
market, increasing access for small medium
enterprises (SME) and cooperatives to the capital
market, encouraging regional governments to raise
funds through the capital market, increasing the
participation of domestic investors, improving
market infrastructures to face global
competition, development of the Over the Counter
markets, and increasing investor protection, as
described in the Capital Market Blueprint for
1999-2004
